Special Report by our special correspondent Subhash Ghosh from Kolkata:
West Bengal politics is entering a very interesting phase.
On one side, Mamata Banerjee and her party TMC are trying to retain their dominance. On the other side, BJP has aggressively built the electoral battlefield.
But the ground reality is telling a different story:
“BJP may have set the field, but the Left is playing the game.”
Why is the Left gaining ground? (Solid Reasons)
1. ️ Stronger Election Commission & Security Presence
Increased deployment of central forces and tighter monitoring
Voters who earlier hesitated (especially Left supporters) are now coming out freely
Result:
The “silent Left voter” is now turning into an active voter
2. 六 Return of the Working-Class Base
Tea garden regions and industrial belts
These areas have historically been strongholds of the Left
According to reports:
Workers and labor communities are shifting back to the Left
Issues like wages, employment, and rights are regaining importance
3. 易 Deep Ideological Roots
West Bengal was under Left rule for 34 years
Politics here has traditionally been class-based, not religion-driven
This creates a major challenge for BJP:
The polarization model that works in UP-Bihar
Does not have the same impact in Bengal
BJP’s Biggest Challenges (Deep Analysis)
1. Standing on the Left’s Old Base
BJP’s rise after 2019 was largely fueled by former Left voters
Now:
That same vote bank is shifting back
BJP’s foundation is weakening
2. Limited Reach of RSS Ideology
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh ideology
has not deeply penetrated Bengal
Reasons:
Bengal’s socio-political culture is different
Class politics dominates over identity politics
Impact on TMC (Under Pressure)
1. ⚖️ Loss from Both Sides
Left reclaiming its traditional voters
BJP still pulling some anti-incumbency votes
Result:
TMC’s vote share is under pressure
2. Key Regions: Murshidabad & Bardhaman
Murshidabad
Bardhaman
In these regions:
Congress and Left are trying to regain ground
Both TMC and BJP are facing losses
⚡ Final Political Picture (Conclusion)
BJP created the momentum, but the Left is benefiting from it
The Left is making a silent comeback
TMC remains the strongest, but under visible pressure
Big Shift:
Voters are no longer hesitant or fearful
This is changing the entire electoral equation
Punch Line
“In Bengal, this election is not just about winning power—it’s about the return of ideology.”
